Split Enz were a rock band from New Zealand founded in late 1972 as "Split Ends" by Tim Finn and Phil Judd. The band name was changed to Split Enz at the beginning of 1974. Split Enz had eight songs listed in the APRA Top 100 New Zealand Songs of All Time, more than any other band.

Crowded House are a rock band formed in Melbourne, Australia, in 1985. Originally active from 1985 to 1996. The founding members were New Zealander Neil Finn (vocalist, guitarist, primary songwriter) and Australians Paul Hester (drums) and Nick Seymour (bass). Later band members included Neil Finn's brother Tim Finn, Peter Jones and Americans Mark Hart and Matt Sherrod.

In November 2016 they were inducted into the ARIA (Australian Recording Industry Association) Hall of Fame.

On 9 December 2019, Neil Finn unveiled via his official web site that the band's new line-up - alongside himself and Seymour - would add Mitchell Froom, Liam Finn and Elroy Finn. This line up is scheduled to release a new album, 'Dreamers Are Waiting' in 2021.

The group hold the distinction of being the only New Zealand band to have made it to #2 in the US Billboard Singles chart, with their single "Don't Dream It's Over".

The Finn Brothers are a New Zealand musical duo consisting of brothers Neil and Tim Finn. In June 1993 both members were awarded the OBE for their contribution to music.

Neil Finn (born May 27, 1958, Te Awamutu, New Zealand) is a New Zealand singer and songwriter and one of New Zealand's foremost musicians.

He joined his brother Tim's band Split Enz in April 1977 and assumed lead responsibility when Tim left in June 1984. After Split Enz broke up in 1984 he formed The Mullanes later known as Crowded House. When Crowded House disbanded in 1996, he launched a solo career as well as rejoining with his brother Tim to release material as The Finn Brothers. They were both awarded an OBE in 1993 for services to New Zealand music. Married to Sharon Finn and father of Liam Finn and Elroy Finn.

On 9 April 2018, it was announced that Neil Finn would perform with Fleetwood Mac as part of their forthcoming tour in 2018, replacing Lindsey Buckingham after Buckingham's firing.

His musical career includes forming 1970s and 1980s New Zealand rock group Split Enz, a number of solo albums, temporary membership in his brother Neil's band Crowded House and joint efforts with Neil Finn as the Finn Brothers.
